They'll go back to making the usual Konami stuff. Castlevania, Silent Hill - American bad edition, weird indie experimental games and not much else.

I'm not really sure why they decided to start making arcade games tbh

I'm not one of those guys who thinks MGS is doomed without Kojimbo since Ghost Babel and Portable Ops were bretty good. But all I can really see them doing with the series as it is now is remakes, since Nostalgiafags have been asking for a new MGS1 remake since the PS3 days. I don't know why anyone wants that after what happened last time.

i did dig those but i do think the series is doomed. theyve lost so much of the staff they had in their good days.
>But all I can really see them doing with the series as it is now is remakes, since Nostalgiafags have been asking for a new MGS1 remake since the PS3 days. I don't know why anyone wants that after what happened last time.
Id accept just remakes I dont even rally need em to change mechanics the whole series is preety mechanically solid even with flaws
just give me mgshd collection with some enhancements and extra content tbh

 No.721

>>718
Yeah that's a good point. I absolutely loved MGSV despite the story being unfinished since the mechanics and controls were so good. I'm not usually into remakes but would totally buy a Fox Engine version of MGS3 or something. If they were gonna attempt a new game I'd rather they just start anew with different characters rather than continuing with Snake/Big Boss' story since it's kind of a mess at this point.

They were utter dogshit. Go back to cuckchan faggot.

jesus fucking christ, I take it back, go back to reddit

 No.731

Meh, let MGS rest in peace, there's no reason to make a new game in the series, remakes included. The best is to make a spinoff with new characters and settings but you might as well call it a new IP in that case.
Well, MGR2 from platinum is the only thing i would consider but that's it.

I'd accept that. I don't really care about the story and characters that much, I just want more of the gameplay. The only other stealth series I know of is Splinter Cell and that's also dead iirc.
Well, MGR2 from platinum is the only thing i would consider but that's it.
Would be based but I can't see it happening since it didn't sell that well

I'd rather see a new Classicvania personally. The Metroid-style games were IGA's thing and he's no longer with the company, plus we already have Bloodstained to scratch that itch. Castlevania ReBirth for Wii was fucking god tier so it'd be perfect if they got the same guys to make a new game.

classicvania, igavania, 3dvania, don't matter to me so long as they get the feel right.
as long as it's cryptic and punishing, to me that's what a castlevania game is really about.
If they could make even a modern 3d vania with some cues from dark souls and use something like circle of the moon's tarot card system that'd be really heckin neaterino.

3D Castlevania has had a pretty bad history with the N64 games and LoS (I heard that one PS2 game was okay though). But I guess with the right team it could be good. Maybe give it to Platinum since they did a good job with MGR. Hell even if the game was bad it'd still be better than the shitty Netflix show.

there were a few ps2 games, I never played any of them. I wanted to try lament of innocence particularly.
castlevania 64 I rented a few times as a kid and I didn't hate it but it was clunky, but then again, most castlevania games are kind of clunky.

 No.764

I tried the GBA games. I thought they were really good. Even if they were low budget-esque. If a game company follows the formula right, they can easily make a game as good as those

Bad news is that the majority of Castlevania games don't sell very well. Which is what happens to most Konami games.

Ironically the recent 3D game, "Lord of Shadows", was one of the most highest selling Castlevania games that has been released since then

 No.770

Are you aware of Bloodstained? The same guy who made the GBA Castlevanias left Konami and started his own company where he makes pretty much the same shit. There are also some similar Castlevania games on the DS if you haven't already played them

>Bad news is that the majority of Castlevania games don't sell very well. Which is what happens to most Konami games.

Hollow Knight sold 3 million copies and Ori turned a profit in one week, there is money to be made there. Konami are just more interested in mobile casinos and shitty light gun games

 No.775

yah but thats just two examples out of hundreds and both of their sales were partially boosted by furries and whatever you call fly fuckers. bug chasers? anyway you could say theres money to be made in any genre but that would require someone being willing to take a gamble and try something new and jap companies in particular autistically adhere to formulas so its no wonder they always wind up being propped up almost exclusively by equally autistic consumers

They don't sell well, but Castlevania doesn't need much of a budget so they're likely to profit anyway. Plus Indie Metroidvanias have been fairly popular for the past few years, so a lot of people who are into those would probably be interested in trying out the series that actually started it all.

Yes, there is.
Metal gear 1 and 2 are dated beyond belief, and MGS needs a remark because even it is obsolete as shit technologically.

MG and MG2 sure, but no way would they be able to recreate the atmosphere from MGS1 with modern hardware. Also they tried already with Twin Snakes and everyone hated it (imo it wasn't too bad but that was the general consensus)

Incoming incoherent ramble:
Chaos Theory is the best one, there's plenty of fuck around room if you just want to toy with the enemies. You can throw rocks and bottles at their heads and knock them out and toss their bodies over railings or hide them in floor vents and shit. One of my favorite thing to do in the first level was waiting for some guy to cross a rope bridge over a gorge and throw a rock at his head and watch him fall into the gorge. You can also shoot niggers through certain walls, if you don't feel like giving a shit about a completely silent no-kill run for a mission you can pick a sniper or shotgun attachment for your gun and blast motherfuckers, but you can die pretty quickly if the enemies are actively looking for you and when you reach the maximum alert level they're ALL actively looking for you. Game's fun as shit, too bad the multiplayer is nonexistent anymore though, because spies vs mercs was top tier. All of the levels are pretty fun to play too, though there's one where you're in an office building during a blackout and it kinda sucks in some spots, but that might just be me since I don't like office buildings in general regardless of what the game that contains them is like.

So I compared the 2 games and decided that Splinter Cell was the winner. MGS seems like a downgrade IMO. Even the last one seems like a poor man's version or Chaos Theory

In that second mission, in the bank, there's this part where you can drop from a vent right next to two guys who be sittin like this.
Anyway, couldn't figure out how to do this part stealthily for the longest then I just dropped down there fucking around thinking it wouldn't work.
Anyway yeah, Chaos Theory particularly deserves some sort of re-release.
I would take it just on steam tbh. If they could re-make 1+2 with the QoL Chaos Theory had that would be great too, but I'm not hopin for too much.

 No.910

fwif I can't remember the story for shit but it's some pretty standard tom clancy shit. sam's a badass single dad who don't need no woman to raise his daughter.
the setting is pretty much just where a slightly futuristic military industrial complex of the mid 00s and the intelligence community intersect.
it's way way way more grounded in that regard than say mgs, and the gameplay as well.

 No.971

>>821
Story and characters are all good or at least not irritating as fuck. Setting is a bunch of places all over the world at night, not sure what to say there it's pretty varied. Like the first level is some South American shithole iirc, then the next one is a cargo freighter at sea. You also go to North Korea.
