What were your thoughts on the PlayStation Portable and PS Vita? Did you think it was good or bad? Do you have any favorite games or experiences with them?

Me, I thought that it was really good and interesting concept, especially the Vita. It tried and did a lot of things interestingly. I'm a little upset that it got discontinued, since they were the only challenge against Nintendo. Vita just needed more games to remain competitive.

>Did you think it was good or bad?
No opinions about the PSP since I never really dove into that system that much. As for the vita? I thought it was good for the most part but the expensive memory cards and the (somewhat) lack of games hold the system back from being truly great.
>Do you have any favorite games or experiences with them?
Gravity Rush was pretty great and the Musramasa Rebirth was an amazing remake.
>I'm a little upset that it got discontinued
Same and it was pretty much an true end of the dedicated portable gaming systems when the Vita was no more and Sony decided to call it quits with the handheld market.
>>Vita just needed more games to remain competitive.
Should of made SD/microSD cards as the default memory card option, tbqhwy.

I never owned either myself but emulated some PSP games. Peace Walker and Persona 3 Portable were pretty good I guess. As for the Vita it seemed like a good console if you were really into weeb JRPGs but I don't know of any specific titles. The Switch has pretty much taken over that audience anyway.

There was Uncharted, Killzone and Dragon's Crown. It was a real hollow list of releases in the Vita timeline.

I don't know why they never did that.

It's pretty much nothing but Nintendo handhelds from now on. I don't even think that either, because I think they'll just develop games exclusively for the switch from now on.

the cards were sony's own proprietary format, i'm sure they made bank off of them because they cost like 3 times more than sd cards did

people seem to forget that sony is a data storage company that won multiple format wars and also sells games on the side

>i'm sure they made bank off of them because they cost like 3 times more than sd cards did

And that's why the Vita didn't sell so well. They got too greedy. Most people won't pay money for that

That's a good one lol

Oh yeah, I forgot it was Sony for a bit

ngl im kinda kicking myself for picking up a 3ds instead of a vita. got an 3ds for 1 hundo when nu-3ds came out, and i couldve just gotten a vita instead and jailbroken it immediately
its obviously superior hardware, and id imagine its much easier to jailbreak. 3ds is a hassle in that respect ime

I would say they're just as good as each other honestly. The Vita is easier to hack but the 3DS isn't too hard either. It's basically a question of whether you prefer the DS/3DS or the PSP/Vita library. Though I have a 3DS myself and haven't even bothered hacking it since I'd rather just use Citra.

Why would you buy a console with nogaems in them? There's barely any PS5s for sale as of right now too

Dunno lol, the only exclusive game is that shitty Demon's Souls remake. I heard they can be used for mining cryptocurrency so there's that I guess.

3ds hacking is ez af cause it has a large community.

Anywho, psp/vita were gr8 bc soyny had little faith in the system so the makers had more freedom to do cool shit with it (outside of greedy shit like the mem cards mentioned). Unfortunately the hands off boon is also double edged when you also don't get as much support/games.

And what's worse is that 1. Sony is deciding to port their games over to the PC at a later date and 2. There's going to be cross-gen games on PS4 & PS5 for the next 3-4 years making buying a PS5 pretty much null in both long & short term.

Makes me wonder if they're still going to re-release all their old games again like they did with the PS4 now that it's backwards compatible. People talk a lot of shit about Xbox but their new system that allows you to play all of their old games sounds pretty fucking good compared to Sony only going back to PS4 and Nintendo giving us fucking NES and SNES games.

original PSP was fucking great
i went the custom firmware route with mine, would use it to watch porn on the neighbors unsecured wifi network ~15 years old and play emulated PS1 games
fun shit
