If nothing else it doesn't look as cheap or plastic-y as the old model. I'll hold off until it actually has some gaymes tho
No.8186
>>8185it's backwards compatible with everything so that's nice, will probably be a month or two before it gets hacked as well. but at this point getting a steam deck or one of the other chink variants may be a better deal since they're stronger and you can play pc vidya on them
No.8187
>>8186Yea at least they can't really have a library that's mostly ports like last time.
>getting a steam deck or one of the other chink variants may be a better deal since they're stronger and you can play pc vidya on themI don't even use the handheld mode anyway tbh. As gay and overpriced as Nintendo is these days they seem to be the only company that makes a lot of local multiplayer games so I always end up getting their consoles. On the other consoles everything is online focused because zoomers are all friendless autists, and I'd rather play single player stuff on PC.
No.8207
So does it have some kind of cool gadgets or beefier systems to justify the new console? Switch has its niche but this feels like the DSi->3DS transition.
No.8216
>>8207yeah I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up like another Wii U situation since normies probably won't realise that it's actually a new console and not just some upgraded version
No.8218
>>8216oh so they're finally gonna release a new star fox game which will bomb and they'll blame it on lack of interest in the franchise or something instead of their own retarded marketing practices
No.8224
how did they manage to get everyone to know that super nintendo wasnt just NES.5 but failed on wiiu and everyone thought that was just WII.5
No.8225
>>8224the SNES actually had a noticeable technological leap from the NES, just from a superficial consumer perspective the games were graphically more impressive and newer concepts were being tried with the hardware and sound design, meanwhile outside of the stupid controller scheme the difference between wii and wii u games wasn't as impactful
plus the 80s/90s was a time when you could just have a handful of magazines and tv commercials along with word of mouth to generate hype for you while today you have to pay tons of influencers to make multiple shitty videos full of jump cuts every 2 seconds to even keep people's attention long enough to sell them on even one product because their target demographics have their dopamine receptors burnt out before they're even in middle school
No.8227
>>8225Same with GB/GBC/GBA, I still 'member how shocked I was playing gen 3 pogeyman as a kid because the doors actually had opening and closing animations lol. Nowadays it's a lot harder to tell the difference between gens, like were there really any meaningful differences between PS4 and PS5/Xbone and Series X aside from having SSDs and meme shit like raytracing?

>>8225gud post. it was really obvious just looking at screenshots, the tech was p impressive. dk country, ballz and there was one more that did impressive stuff i think
plus corps wouldn't dare pull the shit they do now. new console meant actually good & new or the customers would've rioted and deded your company
guess nontendo did the gameboy lite or w/e but even that was a big improvement as o.g. gameboy was a large hunk of shit
idk if you guys remember but right before the lite and color released they had a ton of peripherals. magnifiers, external speakers, lights, all kinds of shit. my boy had picrel and i would always borrow it
No.8231
>>8227>were there really any meaningful differences between PS4 and PS5/Xbone and Series Xnope. graphical fidelty has been mostly peaked for awhile, but they def could do awesome shit with a.i. if it wasnt DIE jeet programmers led by money men
lik all those sweet little lies by godd were probably planned features but people will dive wallet first into sloppa so why bother

i wonder if sega hadn't spaghetti'd after the genesis how'd that would've worked out

>>8234ya it was but 20 minutes of battery life don't help much
game boy had fun vidya, gay gear was all gimmicks. color screen don't help much if the thing is bulky and the games aren't fun, meanwhile game boy could be slapped together and had hueg margins. sega was juggling like six consoles at any given moment (genesis, game gear, sega cd, 32x, nomad, saturn) and consumers didn't know wtf to buy
there was a big leak of internal marketing info a couple years ago that really put into perspective how fucked they were

never did bro out with fishy man :(coulda had the keltech of vidya but ouya and the gang p much ruined that forever

>>8584>constantly told the (((shareholders))) to fuck off every time they tried to force Nintendo into making paid DLC and mobile games>as soon as he died they started making both of those things out the assI still miss him bros, he was a rare vidya CEO who seemed to actually care about the industry.

>>8586under his reign how many C&Ds did legal send to free fan projects?
did the co. do anything at all toward preservation?
No.8590
>>8589no more or less than they're sending now, they've always been butthurt over it.
No.8593
>>8589Nintendo have always been pretty scummy when it comes to that kind of thing but I highly doubt the CEO personally gets involved. Probably some team of (((lawyers))) deals with it.
>did the co. do anything at all toward preservation? If nothing else the Wii's Virtual Console thing was probably the best attempt I've seen to make retro stuff available in any official capacity (that's not saying much tho). It was overpriced but the library was huge and you could even get Japan only stuff in the West etc. It was a hell of a lot better than the current system on the Switch anyway.
I'll also say that given the massive amount of shit we seen in the gigaleak Nintendo obviously cares more about preservation than 99% of other Jap companies who would commonly do shit like deleting all the files from their old games to free up memory. I guess nobody else but them anticipated that in the future you'd be able to resell your old games at full price and millions of people would actually buy them over and over again.
